We've adopted!!!

Welcome Max!! 

Our newest family member!

He is a 1 year old german shepherd mix, weighing in at 80+ pounds. 

Paige and I decided it was time to get another dog, after having to put Meg down in June.  She was 15 years old and led a good life here in the BrownRice household. 

We have  been searching for the perfect pet for the last 6 weeks.  We found Max (aka Thor, but he did not know his name so we changed it).  His previous owners tied him up in the back yard because he became such a handful.  He was described as jumpy and mouthy.  Well, he is both.  But mainly the mouthy part.  He is taller than both of us when on his hind legs.  His legs are longer than our arms.  He is a fairly well mannered boy on the leash, but getting that pinch collar on is very difficult. 

We brought him home from the Humane Society today and took him for a 1 hour walk.  Paige handled him well on the lead.  Then we had a few issues so I took him for another 45 min walk before bed.  He has whined and barked a bit in his kennel tonight. 

So far he likes my shoes, my slippers, my jacket, and to bit Paige and I anywhere he can to get our attention and play.  He definitely needs manners. 

But we love him already.
