I have been thinking about using a
cold frame for some time now, but it seemed a bit overwhelming to me for some reason. I love my vegetable gardens and have been planting them for many years. However, with the shorter summers up here, I wanted garden fresh veggies available throughout the year. So I started looking into cold frame gardening again. I went to St Vincent's to get the windows, Home Depot to get the scrap lumbar (51 cents for a 2x6.... gotta love it!), and using my dad and Austin to help..... ta da!!

The first seedlings I started indoors to be placed in the cold frame. I know they look puny, I need to work on starting seeds.... I may get a heated mat for the seeds indoors.

It is a great place to start my plants earlyand get a jump start on my spring gardening. I plan on growing greens through the winter and whatever else I can think of (I don't think tomatoes will work too well in there- which is disappointing as I LOVE fresh tomatoes).
I am very excited. Now maybe a few chickens??????
