Snake crisis

So, I am with Lon today doing some shopping at HomeDepot and I get a frantic call from mom. She informs me that the snake got out.
(Keep in mind that Austin is at camp all week and that leaves Paige as the only one that will pick up the snake)

me: Did Paige leave the cage open?
mom: No, she never put him back in after she had him out holding him this morning.
me: Where did she have him?
mom: Crawling on Austin's bed.
me: Are you sure? That is really not like Paige.
mom: I know, but the cage is empty. I put the dog outside and she is looking for the snake in Austin's room. He could be anywhere.
me: Well, just keep the door closed and put a towel at the bottom to make sure he doesn't get out. He has to be there somewhere.
mom: I know. bye.

I inform Lon that I need to get home. So, he starts driving me back to get my car at his house when I call Paige. I ask her if Houdini is hiding in the log, or the tree, or in the bedding in the bottom of the cage. She tells me that he is not, between tears. I say ok, don't worry, he has to be there somewhere.

Lon and I are halfway back to his house when the phone rings again and it is Paige.

Paige: We found the snake.
me: Really? Where?
Paige: In the bedding in the bottom of the cage. He was buried in there.
me: Oh, that's good.
Paige: Yeah, we took everything out and I felt for him down there at the bottom.
me: Good.
Paige: Yeah.
me: Paige?
Paige: Yeah mom?
me: Just don't take the snake out again today until I get home. OK?
Paige: OK.

The crisis was over.

seriously, i am thinking about just webcasting down the street to you, so we can have virtual conversations and i don't have to worry about a snake finding a home in my pantleg.
