What is that smell????

A few weeks ago, we were replacing the fence between our neighbors to the north and our house. While dad was tearing it down, he kept noticing this putrid smell. After further investigation, he found this thing sticking out of a pile of dirt under the bushes in their yard. Well, dad certainly did not like what he found. So, he recruited the bravest kid this side of the Pecos and of course, Austin took care of it. (He is also my guy when it comes to spiders, bugs, snakes, and dead rabbits that Meg has decided to chase, catch, gut and leave on the back porch!)

Anyway, dad gave him a shovel and Austin went to work unearthing the thing that was emitting that awful stench. Low and behold it was a possum! We are not sure how it came to be there, but we are pretty suspicious that the neighbors fine landscaping company that occasionally graces us with their presence (and blows all that crap into our yard instead of picking it up) had something to do with it. Good thing it was too big for the blower to move!

So, I left, Paige watched, dad held the bag, Austin dug it up and put it in the bag, and mom laughed.

Bottom line, this guy's got guts!!!!!

Possum? That's it? Please Austin could handle that with one hand tied behind his back, or even in a cast.
